This concert is a chance to hear a true virtuoso violinist, Emmanuel Bach. Having won the Royal Overseas League String Competition 2018 and Mirecourt International Competition 2016 he’s rightly gaining increasing recognition as an exceptional soloist, and as a chamber musician. Notable recent performances include as co-soloist with Anne-Sophie Mutter in Bach’s Double Concerto and playing in a live-streamed masterclass on the Brahms Concerto conducted by Maxim Vengerov. Later in 2020 he’s taking part in the prestigious Sibelius Competition.
Emmanuel is accompanied by South Africa born pianist Jenny Stern, well-known in the UK as a superb accompanist, chamber musician and teacher. She has also recorded extensively for radio and television in Europe and South Africa.
Their interesting and varied programme includes masterworks by Beethoven and Brahms, delightful miniatures by Sibelius, as well as pieces by Ysaye and Wieniawski – two composers whose work deserves to be heard much more widely.
